6 mm, heavier and denser than a standard mat, which is what holds the engraving cleanly

How it engraves
The laser burns your design into the mat, so it reads as one clean tone
Solid shapes, marks, and type come out sharp
Gradients, photos, and multi color art do not translate
The mark shows strongest on Black, Plum, Slate Blue, and Sage
On the lighter mats it reads soft and subtle, which is beautiful in person and quiet on camera
If your mats are going in front of a lens, go dark
